Potato Salad is that dish which is made from potatoes that are boiled, which comes in different versions in many regions of the world. It is commonly a side dish irrespective of the fact that it is known as a salad. It usually comes along with the main course.
Potato Salad is usually served along with roasts, cold sandwiches, fried chicken, barbecue, hamburgers and hot dogs. Generally it is considered as casual fare. So it is served at springy outdoor barbecues, other events and casual meals and at picnics.
It is an important and well-known menu choice of chefs who prepare food for a number of people. This is because it can be made easily in bulk quantities. It may be prepared before hand and kept in the refrigerator till needed. For its making, it requires ingredients which are inexpensive and cheap.
Importance- Picnics in the winter season and barbecues in the summer season are incomplete without helpings of this tasty dish. Veggie potato salad is Southern Classics. Potato salad recipes-
- Big Daddy’s Grilled Blue Cheese-and-Bacon Potato salad- Potatoes is grilled in Aluminium foil packet which is easy to fold. There is addition of a subtle note of flavour.
- Lemon Garlic Potato salad-Mixture of sweet potatoes and Yukon gold potatoes provides a twist of refreshment on potato salad. Small to medium sized potatoes of same diameter are chosen in the preparation of this dish.
- Grilled Potato salad- This potato salad is picnic-friendly. There is twist on the funny and tasty side. This is a traditional recipe to be relished in summers. Grilled potatoes give the dish a flavour while dressing of 3-ingredient gives a tangy note.
- Spicy Potato Salad- Hot sauce and chilli powder adds high temperature to this mayo-free potato salad dish. If you are not able to remove the heat, hot sauce is left over for spicy version.
- Chat potatoes (small coliban)-15 even sized
- Chopped fine, rind and trimming of extra fat-6 bacon rashers
- Mayonnaise of whole-egg which is of high quality -80g
- Sour cream-50g
- Crushed garlic clove-2 small
- Chopped finely drained gherkins- 40g
- Packed loosely chopped finely fresh dill-1/4 cup
- Sliced finely with trimmed ends 6 green shallots
- Capers chopped finely 3 tablespoons
- Black pepper ground freshly and salt
- Potatoes are placed in a big saucepan. It is then covered with cold water. Boil the potatoes over high flame. Boil it for 15 minutes by uncovering it or till tender when skewer is inserted into it. It is then drained. Then it is kept aside for 45 minutes so that it is cooled completely.
- Egg is placed in a small container of cold water. Then boil it over high flame. Heat is reduced to medium and gently boiled by uncovering it. Stir occasionally for 15 minutes till medium-hard boiled. Drain it, and then cool it under running water. Peel the eggs and then keep aside.
- A non-stick frying pan that is small is heated over high flame. Bacon is added and then cooked. Stir for 5 minutes till crisp. Then it is removed from heat.
- Combine garlic, sour cream and mayonnaise in a bowl that is small.
- Gherkin, dill, green shallots, capers and bacon are added to the bowl along with the potato. Combine it by gently tossing it. Sour cream mixture is added. Combine by tossing. Season with pepper and salt. Then taste it.
- Eggs are cut in the shape of quaters.They are then added as toppings to the potatoes. Immediate serving of potato salad is done by adding other toppings if desired.
